BOARDING LIFE

The boarding facilities at Solid Rock Group of Schools are thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and a conducive environment for students at every stage of their academic journey.

Hostel Setup

  • Form 1 and 2: Junior students are accommodated in spacious rooms housing 10 students each, fostering a sense of community and peer support during their transition to boarding life.

  • Form 3 and 4: As students progress to senior classes, they enjoy a more private setting with only 8 students per room, offering an environment better suited for focused study and personal growth.

  • A-Level Students: Advanced-level learners benefit from a premium arrangement, with rooms accommodating just 6 students. Each student is provided with a single mattress for added comfort, reflecting the school’s commitment to supporting the needs of its senior students as they prepare for higher education.

This tiered hostel setup ensures that students have a comfortable living space tailored to their needs at each stage, promoting both academic and personal well-being.

Boarding Life Schedule at Solid Rock Group of Schools

Life at Solid Rock Group of Schools is structured to balance academic pursuits, personal growth, and relaxation, ensuring a holistic boarding experience for students.

Morning Routine:

The day begins at 5:00 AM with a morning routine that prepares students for an active day ahead.

Academic Focus:

  • 1st Study: From 6:00 to 7:00 AM, students engage in quiet study, setting the tone for academic success.
  • Morning Classes: Lessons start at 7:45 AM, following a short devotion and assembly. The morning includes tea and mid-morning classes before lunch.
  • Afternoon and Evening Studies: After a brief leisure break at 2:55 PM, students return for 2nd study (3:30–5:00 PM) and conclude their academic day with 3rd study (6:30–8:30 PM).

Devotion and Assembly:

Morning devotion and assembly from 7:30 to 7:45 AM foster a sense of community and spiritual growth.

Leisure and Personal Time:

A dedicated leisure period from 2:55 to 3:30 PM allows students to unwind and recharge.

Laundry and Meals:

Laundry time is allocated from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, followed by supper at 6:00 PM.

This well-structured daily schedule ensures students develop discipline, academic excellence, and personal responsibility, all within a nurturing and supportive environment.

Boarders’ Checklist

All boarding students are required to bring the following items:

    • 2 to 3 Blankets
    • 1 Pair of Sheets (Navy blue or light blue)
    • Pyjamas (Navy blue or grey)

    Bedding:

    • 2 to 3 blankets
    • 1 pair of sheets (navy blue or light blue)
    • A pillow

Clothing:

  • Pyjamas (navy blue or grey)
  • Slopes (blue or black)
  • A pair of sneakers and a pair of tennis shoes (white)
  • 1 plain dark royal blue jeans trouser (no faded, torn, or styled jeans)
  • Plain royal blue or grey fleece tracksuit (can be home-made)
  • School shoes (black)

Personal Care:

  • Bath and drying towels
  • Hairbrush, hair spray, and comb

Laundry and Cleaning:

  • Small bucket (blue or black)
  • 6 hangers and 20 pegs

Other Requirements A-Level Girls and Boys – Boarders & Day Students

  • Girls: Black closed-court shoes
  • Socks: Invisible full-length pulling socks (to match complexion)
  • Boys: Black corporate shoes

Permitted Hairstyles

  • No Tinting
  • Boys: Smart shave (Note: $5 per term)
  • Girls: Black braids (twist, 30cm length)
  • Freehand with a bridge
  • Carrot Style (without a shade) for A-level students and prefects
  • Black Scrunches Only

Note: No mabhanzi or weaves are permitted.
